I’m not sure if it’s the phone app or my complete lack of being in the real world as of late, but apparently I’ve been scheduling posts and they’ve never actually posted. Most of them are irrelevant at this point but do I get points for trying?

Title reveal
I did made a promise that I was going to do a title reveal and I will stick with it. The development of this book has been a slow and bumpy progress due to life kind of getting in the way tremendously but I can assure you I’ve been back to work and have a lovely assistant, we’ll call her Moon Baby because it’s an awesome name and I won’t embarrass her this way, who has been prodding me back into the driving lane toward my own goal. It’s quite hard to wrangle me sometimes so I completely appreciate everything she has done for me and for sticking by my side.
As time goes on, more information about book two will be coming at you in many different forms so be on the look out for it. For now…..title reveal.
I will do my best to not spoil it for anyone who has not read the first book, but I can’t promise I won’t reference something as I give teasers for the future. For now, I just want to say that I came up with this title because it is going to focus on many characters, both of darkness and light, good and evil. You’re going to learn more about the path’s set for not just Tessa but her family and foes. This book will focus on their journey’s as well and how each action intertwines with another because as you haven’t already figured out by reading Rise of a Queen everything happens for a reason no matter how dark it is.
So think about the title, go back and look at the synopsis of the story here and get the gears turning on what will be coming at you in the near future in The Vampire Realm.

Welcome to ‘The Pen Is . . .’
Charles knows what is entertaining yet somehow we all want that case of pens
Welcome, good customer, to The Pen Is! Why do people keep laughing at our name? It’s part of a great saying and fits what we do here very well. Do we sell pens? Of course, but that’s only part of our merchandise. Yes, they come in different colors and we have various sizes of notebooks. You think it’s all paper, ink, and words? There’s a lot more to writing than the physical pieces and that’s what we have to offer. Yes, we had books on how to write and I’m getting the feeling that you’ll need at least three of those. Come with me and we’ll give you the starter pack.
First, you’ll need to purchase a reason to be an author. Trust me when I say ‘because I wanna’ won’t cut it if you get any attention. What? Don’t go too far with a parent’s dying…

Vacation 2.0
The time is here! I get another vacation….sort of. Although my main goal is to be there for my brother from another mother (we’ll say uber close friend but honestly intended family is probably more accurate) and support him at his wedding. I’m delighted that I get to meet his intended, she seems awesome. So technically it’s a family function, but you know it’s going to be a 4 day weekend for me, right outside of DC, and take place at a WINERY. So much win in all of that. The bonus? The weather is going to be NOTHING like my trip to NYC. I’m completely looking forward to this! It’s been many years since I’ve been up in the DC area and the last time I went I had an awesome time.
Next week I’ll be announcing the name of the sequel to Rise of a Queen if anybody is interested.

The announcement I hope you’ve been waiting for…….
I’ve been asked numerous times what the second book to The Vampire Realm will be about. It’s been a long time coming but here it is:
The rise of her empire came at a cost.
Tessa’s vision of a future where vampires and humans lived united had all but disappeared. Her family torn by the wars that ravaged her land were taking it’s toll, each side fighting for the opposition, her sister and Emma with the rebels, and Jason growing into his future by Tessa’s side. Emma’s struggles with her own choices, as Jason moves forward towards a life of service to his aunt, neither one sure of the outcome. This journey that the family takes will force the evolution of life as a vampire to the forefront, forever changing her perspective on the world Tessa thought she knew.
Can Tessa survive another daunting war while ensuring the future of the vampires? Will Jason and Emma make the right choices and not be swayed by the childhood they once knew? Can either side of the war overcome what stands in there way, even when what they love is what they will lose? Or will there be a new beacon of hope, shining brightly in the world that has fallen so dark?
You can view the Instagram of it here.….and I think it’s a great start for what will be the back cover of the book.
Next reveal……….Can you guess what the title will be?

What I learned from my trip
I have returned from my bipolar vacation. It was such an experience I will tell you that. I got great inspiration everywhere I looked and could feel the artistic energy flow through me. The weather, on the other hand refused to cooperate. One thing that I can tell you is that I learned how to get around the city quite fast, and efficiently. It seems no more complicated than my years spent abroad. I didn’t run into “rude” New Yorkers, at least not that I could tell. The people I spoke with were quite lovely and everything went wonderful.
It was fun to jump from plane to train in such a whirlwind only to be followed by carting around wheeled (thankfully) luggage many blocks and through a few subway transfers. I navigated that like a pro and am quite proud of myself for that. For someone who had been dealing with social anxiety I’m surprised I survived. I think I rolled through New York like a tank. Honestly it could be how my father raised me, to be efficient in my surroundings; no matter what it made it a positive experience for me. It made it where I could truly enjoy the city.
The weather made it quite a hassle and mother nature is on my crap list, though. Promising me sunny and 50’s and give me rainy/icy/windy in the 30’s and 40’s. If I wanted to be there in winter I would have chosen to do so. One thing that it did do was humble me to my surroundings and see the city more in the raw and now as much through a tourists eyes. The gray cold days, the determination I had to attempt the things I wanted to do brought me back to a place of reality. It put me in a darker mindset which set me up for a wonderful realistic interaction in my written work. I came up with some good stuff. Even if none of it is specifically geared towards a trip into The Big Apple, the inspiration that I grabbed from that was priceless. If I can say one thing I took home from my trip it would be that the experience got my gears well oiled and running again.
So now that I am home, I can look back on the doom and gloom and delve into that to hopefully produce something quite riveting.
If for some reason you missed the few pictures I posted on Instagram (since I am a baby on it) go check it out and follow me. We’ll work this from the ground up and I’m sure that I’m going to have a lot of fun using it.

Inaugural Instagram
I’m riding the train from Connecticut into New York City. I think that it is so wonderful that I’m reconnecting with Tessa from my Vampire Realm series and beginning to crank out some awesome stuff. I’m not sure why but being on a train threw me into a frenzy of literary proportions but it did. My aunt caught me at a true thinking moment.
The first picture was not cheesy at all and is a great start to my journey over the next few days
If you check in on my main page, http://www.jsriddle.com you should see it off to the right or

Inspiration Vacation
So as we go along with this reemergence thing I’ll announce a new little trip I have coming up. Those who’ve been following me on Twitter and Facebook will probably feel like this is old news, but it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t tell it straight from the blogs page. I’m taking a vacation and it is going to be bloody awesome! I’m heading up north to visit with an aunt I haven’t seen since college and she’s going to take me to New York City. The most I’ve done regarding The Big Apple is visit the Statue of Liberty when I was lovely little band geek for one of our trips and drive through on my way to Connecticut the last time I made a visit to my aunt. Needless to say I am completely looking forward to this. So much so I’ve decided to open up an Instagram account to share in the new adventures of a more exposed me. Go me right? I’ll make sure to blog when I’ve shot the inaugural picture, which I hope will be more profound and less cheesy (I don’t choose the goofy life, it tends to choose me). I’ve had my wheels spinning lately and with some help I’m feeling much more confident and can feel the inspiration hitting me just thinking about it.
I can’t wait to share with you all the wonderful and exciting adventures that I happen upon (or at least some cool pictures because I can’t promise I’m 24/7 kind of entertaining).
