Next step for Drano

I’m clogged.  Maybe its because I’ve been preoccupied. Life has taken a major turn and it is giving me absolutely nothing to work with but a whole slew of emotions.

Emotions….can’t we treat them like emoticons?  And can we not decipher them better? Usually they are a great thing, bringing thoughts to my mind on a certain part of writing.  Unfortunately there is no way for me to write about this.  Maybe, but not sure yet.

Emma and Melinda/ their story is told up until a pinacle moment.  Ariana/Jason are slowly coming together and I’m liking the direction its headed.

It’s the Tessa part that has me stumped.  I want her on a journey. I want her to do what she does best, research and be determined to find out the truth behind everything, all the while holding down the fort.

A BIG Question.  Some seem to be team Greco and some seem to be team Isaac (thank you Meyers for coining that stupid phrase).  Tessa needs a love.  I know its not a love story, but she needs an anchor.  Isaac, after a traumatic experience, do you think that he can come back as a strong character. I really want him strong.  Not like Tessa, but it is super duper hard.  For those who have read It can give me an opinion, of course spoiler alert attached. But I NEED feedback.

Book giveaway idea?

Since I did it last night, give it some daylight time

When I hear back from the one who won the last e-book giveaway I have been contemplating another one.  But this time it may be a little more complicated.  The last time it was about 45 minutes surprise on Twitter.  I’m taking to wordpress (yes it goes off to other pages but my WP family are ones who are my lovies, even those who are quiet.  Maybe this will bring you out of the shell.

I’m looking for ideas on how to go about doing this, and maybe if it gets successful I may even have a paperback I can send you if I get enough feedback.  Sound fair?

Now, a few concepts have come to my attention, one being concept art.  But obviously those are readers who have a feel for the characters.  So what else would be an interesting topic to start the give-away? maybe even a few…

What is is called when it’s not a full on writer’s block?

I know, it’s an odd question.  I don’t have writer’s block, I do write some.  I do a lot of research for historical or mythological accuracy and how much I can veer after I got a wee bit of a suggestion from someone (who will get credit if it comes to fruit) and I’m going to see how I can incorporate it.  I write TONS of notes to come back to later.  Actual paragraph’s and pages that mix well together? We’re getting a tad dry.  So what would a person call this?  Writer’s bump? Is there even a word for it?  I know EXACTLY what I want written.  I know what I want written for the next two books.  The pages should be full at this point, so why aren’t they?  That is a pretty darn good question.

We will say my weekend was a bit distracting, which was a great thing especially engulfing the promotional, exciting, new, and a lot more.  It was the fun kind of promotion.  Maybe the marketing is really hurting things with my writing, although I’m trying my hardest to keep things separate.  It could be that with my research and ideas are spanning back and forth between the both books to make sure of correct information.   Whatever the reason, it is now leading to frustration and I really want to get the next book out.  For those who enjoyed the first would love to know what has come to fruit.  Maybe it’s why I’m not blogging as much; although I doubt it.

I love my WordPress folks and my other followers and friends.  I would LOVE insight, or how they remedy the situation or if I’m headed in the wrong direction.  Let’s keep me on track here.  So I can go back to commenting, loving, and possibly harrassing my WP folk (I’m calling you out Ionia 😉 .  Honestly though, you can check Ioniamartin at readfulthings.  While you’re checking out some of my other good folks Pat Fitzhugh, teller of southern ghost tales, and Charles Yallowitz with his lovely take on fantasy +

No matter what though, let’s get this train back on its tracks, summer is coming soon….although I prefer the saying “Winter is Coming”.

The Rise of Me through technology, and a look back at the growth

As this is Tuesday, I have realized I haven’t truly blogged in a while, and maybe this won’t be much of a blog, who knows.  Driving is quite….tiring, especially after an exciting weekend.

As much as I loved Atlanta and the exciting radio opportunity; I think I thoroughly enjoyed seeing a good friend as well, or even better.  He’s been like a brother to me, and if you heard on the radio, you can catch our odd introduction to one another, when the internet was a tad less browsed and complex as it is today. How amazing things have changed since 2000, right? Yahoo groups/message boards (I saw the switch-over then finally the disappearance of Groups altogether) .  Then there was the messenger or email, only way to get involved and speak with people.  It seemed crazy back then to consider anybody met over the internet as a friend, but now it is more than acceptable.  I watched the rise and fall of Myspace, and through that more friends I found.  Facebook came around and BOOM, not only did I keep up with current friends and the ones I met online through other means, but I became reunited with friends from high school and my favorite time of my younger years when I was in Germany.  I am very grateful for the internet for my friends.  As many as I do have in real life, having lost a few and gaining a few, it seems those I keep in contact with the most are the ones I hold near and dear and it doesn’t matter how I came about doing so.  As I realize the area I live in doesn’t have as much of a place for me as it does elsewhere, staying to myself and working on my writing is a great option.  I can be by myself when I want but enjoy everything people are saying and doing.  And as my book is on the virtual shelf and in a nice little paperback that I control completely, I have learned so much.  Blogging seems to have revitalized a little bit of vigor into my life and the new people it has brought me.  I never was one for personal journalism into a nice bound book, and I have tried; just of thinking, pondering, questioning, and just speaking, and writing obviously. Isn’t it funny how that is the opposite of Tessa?

(Back to my weekend for one second) What is even more interesting was the mini-reunion I had with someone who was quite dear to me when I lived overseas thanks to the military.  Now THAT was a different time.  Until maybe a year ago finding each other on Facebook I haven’t seen him since we left Germany in ’92.  The moment we met up, we hugged and talked as if we had never parted.  It is amazing how one can pick up where one has left off.  To think I will be doing the same with quite a few more old friends in a little less than 2 months.  Amazing opportunities rise ahead of me and I take every moment I can to cross promoting my book with enjoying time with my friends.  That will be something interesting indeed.  Maybe I can get some knowledge from one of my old friends who is a bigger tech person than I can ever assume to be.

That was fun

i’m sitting back at my friends place ready to go to bed and thought I owed it to everyone to let them know that I had a super spectacular time with Stretch & Supa Sonic Scott on the Junkyard radio show on Garage71.  Seriously, this place was awesome inside of awesome.  I walk inside and I see bikes, nice shiny bikes.  The rest was just something I would have to explain every detail of and there is not enough time left on my nite nite medicine to have me do that all.

BUUUUUTTTTT I felt the promotion went out without a hitch.  Of course I’ve never had a hitch so I don’t know how to tell the difference.  I can tell you this.  When we came back on each hour and spoke, I felt completely at home, not really threatened, oddly shy, but it felt great.  I have made another accomplishment and it was with some wonderful people.  I hope that people learned a little about my book, and me, and are not running for the hills as of yet.  I love my followers and my fans and my friends. I REALLY love the ones who listened in, at least for the first bit, considering rock and metal may not be your thing.  I even got to do a few shout outs to some very important people so all in all I had a good day. Bonus…..more technology I know nothing about but at least I am not the only one lost in the social media world.  By the by. I googled myself, not offensively of course.  How happy does it make you feel when you take up the whole page?  It was amazing.  I’m beaming with excitement. Can you tell?

Tomorrow I head to see a friend and use that time to work about my book, so basically this is a working vacation for me.  I’ll take that and.

Goodnight all and will speak with you soon.  We are talking about putting a sound clip together of just the interview itself, cross fingers.

Hanging in the ATL

As I sit here in Atlanta after driving in the rain for a few hours, I sit down to relax.  As blah as it is outside, I’m thankful that I have a friend who lives in the city that can let me crash for the night.  Why is tonight important?  Don’t you remember????  Me, streaming on radio, promoting my book……be there!!!!! I am going to link the one I had before just to give you the gist of things.  Here is it.

But for now, I will keep you updated on what I can, when I can, and i hope you get a chance to check me out on the radio between some awesome rock and metal music and maybe I’ll get to talk about Rise of a Queen.  Maybe.

Off to enjoy the time that I have with my friend before getting grilled or who knows what else (apologies in advance for foul language on my part)

Quite possibly ghosts

or other little devilishly devious sprites, maybe Loki himself we’ll never know the entire tale of confusion that sent me into a spiraling quandary of oddities.

“What was that she just spouted” you’re asking?

I blogged the other day and was completely confused at an oddity that I had never encountered in the world of lovely social media and being an Independent Author.  I wasn’t sure what was normal and what wasn’t.  I am no longer confused, all is right in the world as well as can be expected in regard to technology for the day.  That is the best I can hope for, right?  The winds might blow another direction tomorrow to begin another tale of quandary or just plain craziness.

Conflict: Fancy Way of Saying Good vs. Evil

Exactly!!!!

Legends of Windemere

This topic has been sitting on my ‘thought post’ list for a long time.  I believe I had a genius post for it in January and figured it was so great that it would stay with me as I built up to it.  Then, I wandered off to other topics and forgot what I was going to say.  Still, I think this is an important topic for writers.

We say ‘good vs. evil’ to make the idea of conflict simplistic, but it is rarely that easy.  Yes, the hero is going to save the damsel while the villain is going to lock her in the tower.  Hero equals good, villain equals bad.  It is the basis of almost every story ever written even if the ‘villain’ is nothing more than self-doubt or other crippling emotions.  The ‘evil’ side of the equation is really the obstacle, which is not always as…
