I was wondering a few things.
From authors. Incorporating a paypal button for the ebook onto a site, yay or nay and why? I want real feedback. The comment section has become quite dry.
From more tech saavy people, if I chose to do the paypal method, how in the world can this be accomplished? There are tutorials but I’d have to have 3 computers going at one time to get all that information and I really would much rather be writing.

/ March 21, 2013PayPal is great for many things, and it’s very flexible. However, in order to sell eBooks through PayPal, you would need a back-end, order fulfillment system. In other words, a computer program that automatically sends the buyer the eBook when they click the PayPal button. This can be done, but programming ($) would be required. The money you save by selling directly from your site won’t offset the cost of setting up a back-end fulfillment system. Even if you were to implement an online “shopping cart” solution, it still wouldn’t matter, as you still would need a way in which to transmit the eBook to the buyer.
I did, in fact, sell eBooks this way for 10+ years, but I used my “hands” as a back-end system. When I received a PayPal payment, I would e-mail a PDF of my book to the buyer, usually within a day. It’s very labor-intensive, and it makes buyers furious because they expect to download the eBook instantly.
I say don’t get too tech, too fast. Unless you’re very tech savvy and do it for a living, it will only bog you down and detract from your writing time.

/ March 21, 2013Thank you for the reply. I have been flip flopping on the idea and I am most definitely not the tech savvy kind of person there is out there, although at this point if I could find one to take a lot of this off my hands…..that would be grand but never happen as is life.
